Position Summary:

The role of the Mechanical and Electrical Assembly Technician involves the assembly, wiring, testing, and shipment of machinery, adhering to stringent quality, cost, customer, and delivery standards. This position plays a critical role in the power-up and checkout processes of machines, and may also engage in troubleshooting and resolving customer-related machine issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire machines, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Conduct power-up tests and debug machine issues as necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as part of our Lean journey.
  • Support team members in discovering and developing their talents.

Technical Skills Required:

Electrical Technology:

  • Assembly and troubleshooting using Allen-Bradley products, including servo controls, PLCs, VFD drives, and sensors.
  • Panel building and field wiring.

Mechanical Technology:

  • Assembly of various machine components such as gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, tubular frames, cast iron seal bars, and rubber rollers.
  • Familiarity with coated metals.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by electrical/mechanical coursework and a minimum of two years of relevant assembly experience, or an Associate's Degree in mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Proficient in basic math and the use of hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, with familiarity in PLCs, pneumatics, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to adapt to various tasks as workload demands.
  • Commitment to safety and professionalism in communication.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, and climbing.
  • Close visual work and the ability to stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in precision assembly.
  • Familiarity with packaging equipment and systems.
