Purpose of the Role: Facilitate production efficiency by ensuring that robotic systems and automated machinery operate at their intended performance levels. Engage in troubleshooting, calibration, and programming of robotic systems to align with operational requirements, thereby enhancing productivity and minimizing cycle times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute installation and repair of electrical devices, including transformers and wiring, as well as electrical and electronic components of machinery.
- Conduct visual inspections and testing of machinery, documenting all maintenance activities.
- Identify unusual sounds from machinery to diagnose malfunctions, collaborating with supervisors and fellow maintenance personnel to address operational variations.
- Dismantle faulty machinery and equipment, replacing or repairing components as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and lubrication of various machine parts, including shafts, bearings, and gears.
- Design, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems along with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including the repair and replacement of gauges, valves, and pressure regulators.
- Establish and uphold a preventative maintenance program for all production and facility equipment.
- Assist in optimizing tool, fixture, and material flow, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize hand and machine tools safely, including grinders, saws, lathes, and mills.
- Ensure adherence to 5S principles within the department and participate in periodic audits.
- Troubleshoot robotic controllers and teach pendants when robotic systems are misaligned, programming automated machinery for operational testing and verification of repairs.
- Prepare and modify robotic programs and automated welding parameters as needed.
- Evaluate robotically welded products to determine necessary adjustments to programming and welding parameters.
- Support maintenance and troubleshooting across all equipment.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineering to recommend software and programming adjustments for persistent reliability issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct all business activities in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support and adhere to all corporate health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks, seeking opportunities to enhance quality in line with industry standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a technical institution; five years of relevant experience in a maintenance capacity, or a combination of education and experience.
- Two years of experience in robotic programming, preferably with Motoman or Siemens systems.
- Two years of experience with automated welding equipment.
- Three years of experience in an industrial automation environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Motoman Robotics XRC, NX, and DX Programming, as well as Siemens and Allen Bradley systems.
- Advanced knowledge of welding and metal forming techniques.
- Assist in the development and troubleshooting of programs for Motoman robots or other six-axis industrial robots.
- Diagnose synchronized programs and make minor adjustments to robotic paths as necessary.
- Understand and apply both manual and automated welding processes, including MIG and TIG.
- Capable of performing mechanical and electrical maintenance on both automated and manual equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience in robotic troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and ladder programming.
- Ability to mentor and train others in technical skills.
- Familiarity with PLC and electrical schematics, as well as Motoman robot programming.
- Demonstrated skill in MIG welding processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics and blueprints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
