Position Overview
As a Production Engineering Specialist within the JARVIS Machine Shop, you will be part of a dynamic team of engineers and specialists committed to pushing the boundaries of space exploration. Your role will directly influence the future of space travel, requiring meticulous attention to safety and repeatability in our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design teams to manufacture prototypes through multiple iterations.
- Actively contribute to manufacturing and development initiatives as needed.
- Introduce new capabilities to meet critical timelines.
- Develop clear manufacturing work instructions to ensure part manufacturability.
- Oversee the fabrication, quality assurance, post-processing, and scheduling of hardware throughout the production cycle.
- Review engineering drawings and provide final manufacturing approvals.
- Define and assist with repair and rework procedures.
- Design tooling and fixtures to facilitate efficient manufacturing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in manufacturing and manufacturing engineering.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to incomplete information.
- Strong collaborative skills and eagerness to engage in hands-on manufacturing tasks.
- Solid background in part machining and understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing principles, including GD&T.
- Proficient in technical software tools (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience developing processes compliant with industry quality standards such as AS9100.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of supporting manufacturing and fabrication activities.
- Ability to navigate stairs and work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a rapid development environment.
- Background in aerospace manufacturing is advantageous.
- General proficiency with CAD software.
- Experience in tooling and fixture design.
- Familiarity with machining and CNC programming.
