Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician at Davis Wire plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products. This position involves testing and inspecting products at various stages of the production process, compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine and maintain quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform, record, and evaluate chemical and physical tests necessary to control production processes or evaluate the quality of in-process and finished goods.
- Recommend corrective measures and determine corrective actions to be taken.
- Report deviations from quality levels and standard practices to immediate supervisors and shift foremen.
- Ensure that practices being used are in accordance with standard practice data.
- Provide technical assistance to department heads in project and experimental work.
- Identify all rejected material and assist in its reclassification and disposition.
- Provide technical support for experimental and project work by recording and correlating operating data and results.
- Recommend improvements in process, standard practices, and product evaluation.
- Perform process audits as determined by operating procedures and job work practices.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business procedures, specifications, and technical procedures.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be at least intermediate skill level in Excel.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings.
- Must be able to work independently, as a team, and be able to work with both internal and external customers.
- Ability to think strategically and problem-solve.
- Authorized to work for any employer in the United States of America.
Physical Requirements
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for physical inspection, hand and eye coordination, depth perception.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and sit occasionally to frequently.
- Must be able to work in a dusty environment around metals.
- Hearing – must be able to hear others and warning sounds of forklift and other heavy machinery.
- Speech – must be able to communicate effectively with others while working.
- Smell – must be able to smell various chemicals and gases.
- Must be able to squat, stoop, twist, climb, crawl, reach, grasp, and fine manipulation, and bend occasionally to frequently.
