About the Role

This position is integral to the UMD Transportation & Parking Services (TPS) team, serving as a primary point of contact for visitors to the campus. The individual in this role will play a crucial part in enhancing the visitor experience by providing assistance to students, faculty, staff, and campus guests regarding payment and enforcement inquiries within the visitor pay lot.


Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a welcoming presence for customers arriving at UMD, setting a positive tone for their visit.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of individuals from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Assist customers with credit card transactions at multi-space pay stations and mobile app payments, as cash transactions are not accepted.
  • Troubleshoot any mechanical or technological issues that may arise.
  • Continuously assess lot signage to ensure clarity and enhance user experience.
  • Serve as the point of contact for mobility enforcement, managing software updates and daily exception lists.
  • Guide customers on optimal use of available parking spaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the booth and surrounding areas.
  • Adapt to various weather conditions while performing duties outdoors.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and effective teamwork skills.
  • Generate and update internal documentation as required.
  • Report any damage or misuse of parking privileges and address minor complaints.
  • Provide verbal directions to assist guests in navigating the campus.
  • Be open to modifications in job duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with one year of experience in retail or public service involving cash handling.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
