Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to join our faculty at Utah Tech University. The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or an MS with professional expertise. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience in AI and ML, but candidates with adequate teaching assistant experience are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop courses in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, including graduate and undergraduate courses.
  • Deliver instruction using lecture, laboratory, project, and other modalities.
  • Engage and mentor students in active and experiential learning, with progressive developmental experiences.
  • Provide leadership in the development and oversight of the Center for Applied ML/AI.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of programs and projects in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Science.
  • Conduct public and private outreach activities for the Center for Applied ML/AI.
  • Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings; program management and adhere to university policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • PhD or Doctorate degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and/or Computer Science required. Applicants who are currently enrolled in a doctoral program with graduation pending by August 2027 will also be considered.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with relevant prior teaching experience and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Project management experience for industry or student projects preferred.
  • Strong commitment to and evidence of potential for excellence in teaching, including an ongoing commitment to improvements in teaching methods and curriculum.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to collegiality and teamwork.
  • Commitment to active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement.
