UCAN is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Development Coach to join our team. As a key member of our Youth Development Services department, you will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating a robust youth-centered program that promotes academic support, social and emotional learning development, and intense mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate daily programming activities for participants.
  • Maintain contact with each participant on a weekly basis to ensure their needs are being met.
  • Engage and work with youth to understand the importance of positive self-care, self-awareness, academic success, and job readiness skills.
  • Coordinate activities for program participants and track engagement to ensure their success.
  • Ensure that participants' barriers are being addressed to ensure completion of program activities.
  • Act as a mandated reporter and work with participants on violence prevention skills.
  • Use a strengths-based approach to engage participants in strategies to improve participation in needed services.
  • Assist participants with setting and completing individual goals.
  • Document daily service delivery to youth and client outcomes in the UCAN database.
Community Relations:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, funders, local service providers, and faith institutions to enhance community relations and strengthen referral sources for participants.
  • Attend community meetings and serve as a representative of UCAN as needed.
Professionalism and Work Conduct:
  • Behave with integrity, demonstrate high ethical standards, and display a positive image of UCAN.
  • Act in a professional manner and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Demonstrate accountability for results and keep commitments to others.
  • Report to work, meetings, training, and job-related activities punctually and prepared as scheduled.
  • Demonstrate openness and respect for cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and coworkers.
Professional Development:
  • Attend regular supervision, team meetings, required training, and other professional workshops to enhance job skills.
  • Set annual developmental goals with supervisor to meet learning needs and interests while enhancing job performance and skills.
Requirements:
  • BSW or BA/BS in Education, Youth Development, or Non-Profit field is preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience in child welfare or youth development/outreach required.

This is a full-time position that requires work in the community, including evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will have experience working in high-risk communities, with at-risk youth and young adults, and have knowledge of local community resources in North & South Lawndale, Austin, East & West Garfield, Humboldt Park, and/or Roseland community.
