Contributes to the provision of patient care in a proficient manner and prepares patients for visual field assessments.

May conduct standard screening evaluations, including vision and eyewear checks. Executes various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:


Engages in the delivery of patient care effectively by assessing visual acuity and reviewing current eyewear prescriptions when necessary, documenting information in patient records, inputting patient data into the automated visual field apparatus, and conducting appropriate visual field tests as directed by the referring physician.

Prepares and assists patients for examinations or treatments to be conducted by administering dilation drops after visual field assessments are completed (if advised by the referring physician). Performs a range of clerical duties, ensuring that the referring physician has authorized the necessary testing order prior to conducting the test and that billing is accurately processed post-test.

Maintains the cleanliness and organization of examination and procedure rooms by performing daily cleaning and stocking, aiding in the management of medication supplies as needed, and executing basic maintenance tasks.

Assists in the procurement of medical and office supplies.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Educational Requirements:
Must possess a High School diploma or GED in the U.S. Formal education or training in ophthalmology is preferred.

Language Proficiency:

English is required.
Certifications:

No certifications are required.

Competencies (Complexity of Work):

Requires analytical thinking skills, sound judgment, and the capability to operate independently or with minimal oversight.

Must be able to function in a high-pressure environment and respond appropriately.

Work Experience:
Experience in a customer-facing role is essential; prior experience in a healthcare environment in a patient-facing capacity is preferred. Additional formal education or training in ophthalmology may substitute for some or all of the required experience.

Physical Demands:
Manual dexterity is necessary to operate medical equipment used in testing procedures.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, along with good hand-eye coordination to perform various assessments.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Adheres to standard safety protocols using personal protective equipment as necessary.
