Job Summary: Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to perform and report various analyses on multiple specimen sources while ensuring high-quality patient care. This is a rotation-based, part-time position that works under the GLH Laboratory Team in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct accurate analyses and report results in a timely manner
  • Maintain productivity and efficiency in a fast-paced laboratory setting
  • Manage multiple work processes and tasks with minimal supervision
  • Handle specimens properly and ensure accurate identification and suitability
  • Recognize discrepancies in patient orders and report issues as needed
  • Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control
  • Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols
  • Navigate and access multiple computer applications for job functionality
  • Assist in training and orientation of new employees
  • Participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field

Requirements:

Medical Laboratory Scientist:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program OR;
  • Bachelor of Science degree with major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification OR;
  • Bachelor of Science degree with major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least 2 years experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory
  • HEW

Medical Laboratory Technician:

  • Associate degree in laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
