Position Summary
The Mortgage Underwriter will play a crucial role in our operations, managing a diverse pipeline of mortgage applications. This position requires a high level of accuracy in underwriting and approving mortgage packages while ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures. The successful candidate will also manage relationships with correspondent and wholesale mortgage lenders.
Key Responsibilities
As a Mortgage Underwriter, your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating and underwriting residential mortgage applications with precision.
- Maintaining compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to facilitate smooth processing of mortgage loans.
- Providing support and guidance to first-time homebuyers and families in the community.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proven experience in residential mortgage underwriting.
- Direct Endorsement (DE) certification is mandatory.
- Familiarity with VA Portal is preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and multitasking capabilities.
- Attention to detail and strong mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn mortgage software.
- A willingness to understand internal policies and government loan programs.
