Overview:

Mead Lumber Company is seeking a skilled Roof and Floor Truss Fabricator to join our team. As a key member of our production department, you will be responsible for fabricating roof and floor trusses according to engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review engineering layouts and cut sheets to verify accurate wood materials, lengths, grade, and size.
  • Set up the jig with team members for each specific truss in pre-production.
  • Apply the correct plate sizes during assembly per CAD software.
  • Evaluate product quality and verify critical specifications such as heel height, seat cuts, depths, spans, and squareness of the truss.
  • Assemble the truss with assigned team members.
  • Achieve daily, weekly, project, and team-related productivity goals as determined by Production Management.
  • Evaluate all components for compliance with standards from the Truss Plate Institute (TPI) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain a clean job site by collecting tools, securing potential hazards, and restocking connector plates as needed.

Requirements:

  • Lift heavy objects up to 75lbs or more, walk, and stand for extended periods while performing strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions.
  • Correctly read tape measures to the sixteenth of an inch quickly without errors.
  • Knowledge of proper equipment usage, materials, and supplies used in construction work, including nail guns, hammers, forklifts, press machines, tape measures, and saws.
  • High School diploma or equivalent education/experience demonstrating knowledge and ability to perform work.
  • Prior experience working in truss or panel plants is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Supply basic hand tools: measuring tapes (25ft or more) and framing hammers (20oz or larger).
