Accounting Analyst

Azusa Pacific University seeks a highly skilled Accounting Analyst to provide reporting and technical accounting support. The successful candidate will oversee, coordinate, direct, and participate in financial record-keeping, reporting, accounting, and related auditing functions to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of investment accounts in accordance with GAAP and FASB, federal, state, county, and district requirements.

• Manage capital projects, including capitalizing assets, closing depreciation, and reconciling fixed asset and accumulated depreciation accounts.
• Meet with Construction and Designing Managers to review spending versus budget and Work-in-Progress.
• Ensure timely payments of lease properties, business licenses, and property tax.
• Complete monthly reconciliations for assigned Balance Sheet accounts.
• Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts for the University as needed.
• Prepare cost and revenue analysis, income and expense statements, and financial projections for all Capital Projects.
• Analyze transactions from various systems and processes to improve efficiency.
• Provide timely answers to technical accounting questions and communicate business policies and guidelines to management and designated departments.

• BS or BA degree in accounting required.
• CPA or CPA Candidate preferred or equivalent experience.
• Four to six years of experience in accounting.
• Ability to understand and interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and FASB standards.
• Knowledge of statistical and mathematical presentation of data.
• General knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and internal control methods and related laws, rules, and regulations.

• Proficient in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiar with analytical tools, including Pivot Tables, and advanced formulas.
• PeopleSoft and Adaptive Insights a plus.
