Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Flight Test Pilot 2 to join our team at Garmin. As a Flight Test Pilot 2, you will be responsible for conducting flight tests on experimental aircraft, developing ground and flight test plans, and serving as Pilot in Command during execution of flight tests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Flight Test Operations: Conduct simple and moderately complex flight tests on experimental aircraft, including developing ground and flight test plans and serving as Pilot in Command.
  • Test Planning and Execution: Develop and execute flight test plans, including developing ground and flight test plans and serving as Pilot in Command.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Operate data collection systems and post-process flight test data to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineering teams to develop and implement flight test plans, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Commercial Pilot Certificate, 2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate, and minimum 1,000 hours total flight time.
  • Skills: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to perform moderately complex troubleshooting and debugging.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5).
  • Experience: Previous experience using general aviation products, and previous experience in systems engineering or software development.
  • Certifications: Helicopter pilot qualifications.
