Physics Instructor

Job Summary:

Germanna Community College is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach physics courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Teach physics courses to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences
• Develop and implement effective lesson plans and teaching strategies
• Assess student learning and provide feedback
• Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members to create a culturally respectful and inclusive learning environment
• Embody a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of teaching and learning

Requirements:

• Master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the specific discipline
• Official transcripts required prior to final offer
• Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
• Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment, including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success
• Technology capability to teach remotely
• Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education
• Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior teaching experience
• Work experience in the field
• Experience with online teaching
• Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution
• Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
