Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Advocate Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to a culture of excellence and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Collaborate with patients and families to develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
  • Anticipate and recognize significant changes in patient condition, status, and need for care, and take appropriate actions to ensure patient safety.
  • Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety, and assess patient and family readiness to learn.
  • Actively coordinate discharge plans, apply evidence-based practice, and consistently incorporate nursing and regulatory standards of care into practice.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, and participate in shared governance activities to improve processes and patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills, and promote collaboration among healthcare team members.
  • Promote a culture of safety, identify threats to patient safety, and intervene to prevent patient harm.
  • Apply ethical decision-making, demonstrate respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines, and participate in quality/process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in NICU nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to provide holistic patient care, recognize situational changes, and respond to situations with confidence, timeliness, and flexibility.
  • Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to adapt to change assignments quickly, float within the contracted site, and perform physical demands such as sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching above shoulders, and twisting frequently throughout the workday.
