Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist embodies the mission and standards of University Hospitals, engaging in essential respiratory care practices with minimal oversight. This role involves mastering fundamental competencies during the orientation phase while delivering effective respiratory therapy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering medicated aerosol treatments

  • Monitoring patient conditions
  • Providing oxygen and humidity therapy
  • Conducting special procedures such as CPR, managing specialty gases, performing bronchoscopy, and facilitating patient transport

General Requirements

  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to all institutional policies and standards.
  • Refer to departmental documentation for specific responsibilities during orientation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations for maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including annual training and adherence to the UH Code of Conduct.
Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is mandatory
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license valid in Ohio is essential
  • Membership in the AARC is highly regarded

Preferred Experience:

A minimum of one year of recent clinical experience is desirable, with prior hospital experience being advantageous. Shifts will be night hours, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Incentives:

New hires working 35 hours or more are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus, structured as follows: $3,000 after 90 days of employment and $7,000 after one year, contingent on performance.
