Job Summary

Smith Turf & Irrigation is seeking a skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of small engine lawn care equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on a variety of small engine equipment, including Toro, Ventrac, Exmark, Scag, and Stihl.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, hydraulic fluid checks, and filter replacements.
  • Diagnose and identify malfunctions, and implement effective solutions.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn-out parts.
  • Document all work performed on work orders.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical and product knowledge on all equipment serviced.
  • Participate in company-sponsored training to develop skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working on gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Certifications from STIHL, Kohler, Toro, Exmark, and Briggs and Stratton are a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing electrical and hydraulic problems.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
