Job Summary

This role provides assistive care to patients, facilitating the efficient delivery of patient care and supporting the professional role of licensed staff. The incumbent will assist with clerical functions and provide direct patient care, including administering medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, recording vital signs and medical history.
  • Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to licensed staff.
  • Performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) waived lab tests and reports results to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with procedures, acts as a chaperone for healthcare providers, and monitors and cleans patient examination rooms and unit areas.
  • Answers telephones, forwards messages, and schedules appointments and procedures under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Assists with routine clerical functions, including filing medical information and entering charges for billing purposes.
  • Attends and completes mandatory education, including infection prevention and control, safety, CPR, and equipment usage.
Requirements
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
  • One of the following certifications: Advanced EMT, Paramedic, CMA, ABR-OE, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting, carrying, and moving patients and equipment.
Working Conditions

This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting, with potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
