Job Summary:
Misericordia University's College of Business is seeking a highly skilled Tax Attorney/Tax Specialist to join our team in the newly created Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert tax advice and representation to low-income taxpayers, as well as supervising students and volunteers in providing clinical tax services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct representation for clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the United States Tax Court, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Supervise students and volunteers in providing clinical tax services.
- Teach business students about federal tax law, IRS regulations and procedures, and skills and experience in representing clients before the IRS and other tribunals.
- Develop collaborations with community partners to serve low-income or English language minority communities.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school, and a valid license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or eligibility for such admission.
- Valid license to practice as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or eligibility for such admission.
- Credentialed as an IRS enrolled agent.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Experience or capacity for instructing students and volunteers in providing clinical tax services.
- Interest in serving communities of low income or where English is a second language.
