Cost Analyst

As a Cost Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the swift and effective research, development, prototyping, testing, evaluation, procurement, transition, and/or deployment of critical enabling technologies and capabilities that address both immediate and mid-term threats. The position may require occasional travel, up to 5% of the time. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the Business Management Office (BMO) through the following tasks:

  • Generating cost estimates utilizing the Automated Cost Estimating Integration Tool (ACEIT)
  • Conducting cost analyses related to modifications in technical and/or funding baselines
  • Assessing mission requirements to identify cost parameters, specific cost factors, and relationships essential for constructing cost models
  • Defending cost estimating methodologies with robust support
  • Creating life cycle cost estimates to ascertain the total program cost
  • Facilitating contract cost estimating financial activities and routinely providing comprehensive financial reports and documentation
  • Offering guidance and technical assistance to functional specialists in recognizing and evaluating program cost factors and their impact on program alternatives
  • Evaluating program impacts based on directives and funding adjustments
Required Skills:
  • Active Secret level security clearance
  • Proficiency with ACEIT
  • Familiarity with the Army Acquisition Process
  • Expertise in the application of policies, precedents, methods, and techniques of Army and OSD cost estimating
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with the capability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of Army acquisition streamlining initiatives, including the use of Other Transaction Agreements (OTA)
  • Proficiency in MS Office
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in cost analysis
  • Strong data-gathering, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, along with experience in DoD acquisition programs
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in providing cost analysis and support to defense programs
  • Ability to evaluate projects using various methods and options to identify the most cost-effective solutions that meet required specifications
  • Capability to refine and adjust cost models in response to changes in technical specifications, support requirements, design alternatives, engineering, and operational trade-off proposals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in expedited/rapid acquisition efforts
  • Experience in one or more Army program offices
