While we prefer candidates to be based out of our Harrisburg, PA office, we are open to considering other locations for the right talent. These roles are envisioned to be on an hourly, as-needed basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and in collaboration with teams of planners, scientists, and engineers to execute infrastructure projects for public clients across diverse markets.
  • Lead the development of high-quality and visually compelling technical documents for various audiences using publishing software. These documents vary in complexity and preparation time and are subject to rigorous review.
  • Create original content under the guidance of experienced planners, scientists, or engineers.
  • Proofread, revise, and edit text prior to publication.
  • Design visually appealing and easily comprehensible illustrations to communicate complex scientific and design data to a broad audience.
  • Format text and spreadsheets for clarity and impact.
  • Arrange text and illustrations in an engaging manner for print or online formats, utilizing knowledge of typography and layout principles.
  • Review preliminary and final proofs for accuracy and implement necessary corrections.
  • Coordinate with commercial printers for file submissions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in English, communications, graphic arts, publishing, or a related field is required.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience is required, with preference given to candidates with a background in an engineering firm.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Proficient technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Strong critical thinking, active listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Artistic talent and creativity.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
