About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Preschool Associate Teacher to join our team at Community Action Head Start. As a Preschool Associate Teacher, you will partner with our Lead Teachers to deliver a high-quality education program to preschool-aged children in our Head Start Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster positive relationships with all children in the classroom, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement the daily education program, ensuring developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 3-5 years.
  • Assist in observing, assessing, and documenting each assigned child's health, skills, behavior, growth, and development.
  • Ensure the education program meets individual needs and program standards, while maintaining a high level of supervision and guidance for all children.
  • In the absence of the Lead Teacher, take responsibility for the management of the classroom, ensuring a smooth and effective learning environment.
  • Develop effective relationships with parents through regular communication, keeping them informed of their child's progress and needs.
Qualifications
  • Formal education/training in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, including a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, an Associate's degree, or enrollment in a program leading to a degree.
  • Minimum of one year experience working with young children and their families in a day care or related setting.
  • Strong verbal and written proficiencies in the English language and communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to the experiences, needs, and strengths of low-income and diverse populations, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to take initiative to continually improve service and work independently and with interdisciplinary teams to achieve shared program goals.
