Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement system safety programs in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and contractual requirements.
  • Analyze and recommend safety features and controls for system design, software, training, and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards.
  • Perform and support the development of safety documentation to satisfy customer and contractual requirements.
  • Work with systems and software engineering on architecture definition, use cases, and generate software safety analyses in accordance with government guidelines.
  • Support the program by developing hazard analyses, software safety assessments, hazardous material management planning, and execution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882.
  • Developing and evaluating system safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines.
  • Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make formal presentations to large groups.
  • Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers, and customers.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards.
  • Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering.
  • Familiarity with missile and launcher systems.
  • Model-based engineering knowledge.
  • Experience with DOORS requirements application.
