Ultrasound Technologist Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at Optum in the Tri-State region. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the accuracy of ultrasound images.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification
  • Demonstrate competency in performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operating related equipment
  • Greet patients, obtain medical history, and enter information into our computer system
  • Scan according to established guidelines and maintain logs and paperwork for biopsies
  • Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination and maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of examination rooms and stocking necessary medical and radiologic supplies
  • Assist in the completion of the accreditation process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years
  • Maintain CPR certification and observe patient vital signs during examination
  • Provide coverage as needed and provide instruction/mentoring to new hires
  • Provide a positive patient experience and share information with patients regarding the procedure, equipment, and exam
  • Maintain communication with radiologists, patients, and their families, and other persons
  • Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation of additional image acquisition
  • Perform quality assurance on images and equipment and demonstrate competency in utilizing systems
  • Contribute to efficient out-patient operations and maximize the productivity of assigned modality
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy and present completed examinations to radiologists
  • Communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of patients following the procedure
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of course in Ultrasonic Technology
  • RDMS Certification
  • 2+ years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to adequately use or learn to use the department's computerized system and its associated devices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine
  • 2+ years of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist
Physical Demands:
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films
