Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse in the ICU, you will be responsible for delivering and coordinating care for critically ill patients. Your role will involve collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to provide both physical and emotional support to patients and their families. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs.
- Providing respiratory care, including ventilator management and patient monitoring.
- Acting as the primary coordinator for all healthcare disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
- Documenting and communicating patient conditions effectively using computerized systems.
- Assessing and coordinating discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
- BLS certification is required.
- ACLS certification must be obtained within six months of hire or transfer from a non-ICU area.
- Specialty certification is preferred.
- One to two years of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
- Previous ICU experience is advantageous.
