Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a skilled Electrical Substation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our substation equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test substation apparatus, buss work, and automatic equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Report and correct problems with malfunctioning equipment.
  • Install and remove recording instruments and amp meters for regular and special load checks.
  • Take regular readings of substation amps, demand, and kilowatt load.
  • Perform routine and emergency switching, including fuse replacements.
  • Check and maintain capacitor bank installations.
  • Troubleshoot substation electrical faults and restore electric service efficiently.
  • May install conduit, pull in conductor, and make connections on new or existing facilities and equipment.
  • Work from blueprints, diagrams, and manufacturers' bulletins to construct, operate, or maintain substation equipment and facilities.
  • Direct the work of apprentices and helpers as assigned by supervision.
  • Prepare reports on switching orders and times of trouble.
Requirements
  • Candidates must be a Journeyman Lineman or Substation Journeyman.
  • All Substation Journeyman / Troubleshooter candidates shall have three years substation switching experience.
  • All Substation Journeyman / Troubleshooter candidates, which are not a substation journeyman, shall complete the entire Substation Apprenticeship Program.
