Position Summary
The role of a Vehicle Assembly & Service Technician is crucial as our autonomous vehicles operate in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. You will be tasked with the assembly and maintenance of Saildrone vehicles, while also mentoring and guiding others in these processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the assembly and maintenance processes for Saildrone's fleet, ensuring operational readiness and high uptime.
- Travel for deployment and repair of Saildrone vehicles, both domestically and internationally.
- Educate contractors, clients, and third-party personnel on the assembly and servicing of Saildrone vehicles.
- Provide insights for enhancing assembly and service procedures as well as vehicle designs based on field experiences.
Qualifications
- Proven technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems applicable in field settings.
- Professional demeanor when engaging with clients and team members.
- Enthusiasm for instructing and mentoring others in technical tasks.
- Commitment to high standards and accountability in operational execution.
- Ability to evaluate and enhance processes for improved safety and efficiency.
- Willingness to take ownership of operational outcomes.
Essential Skills
- Strong customer service orientation for both external clients and internal teams, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for training purposes.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in technical service roles within field, shipyard, or industrial environments, utilizing a range of tools and equipment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience leading teams and collaborating with contractors to fulfill operational plans.
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to safety and process improvement.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in planning and executing complex operations in fields such as automotive, aerospace, or renewable energy.
- Background in fast-paced environments or roles focused on serviceability and manufacturability.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electro-mechanical systems in marine settings.
- Familiarity with marine operations, including rigging and basic boat handling.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to travel frequently and work in various conditions, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
