The Paper Store is a premier destination for gift-giving needs, committed to sharing its passion with each customer. We're seeking an experienced Asset Protection Professional to join our team in Oak Brook, IL. This part-time and full-time role offers an estimated salary of $50,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Job:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and prior loss prevention experience is a plus. The successful candidate will possess strong customer engagement skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a TPS brand ambassador.
  • Provide a friendly greeting to all guests entering and exiting the store.
  • Patrol the store and stand at assigned locations (FOS, outside the store, etc.) to create a professional, visible deterrent to all customers and associates.
  • Perform monitoring and surveillance activities.
  • Reduce and control loss of inventory through audits, training, and education in conjunction with store management.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor when handling safety issues and when dealing with suspects who engage in aggressive behavior.
  • Report suspicious external and internal behavior to appropriate leadership.
  • Complete assessments of operations, safety, and inventory control related procedures, i.e., bag checks.
  • Able to serve as a witness during apprehensions of internal and external theft.
  • Able to represent The Paper Store in court if the need arises as a result of an arrest.
  • Participate in training of new associates to establish awareness around Loss Prevention.
  • Prepare complete reports relative to all theft incidents and merchandise recoveries.
  • Serve as support to store management to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Network and build relationships with other retailers in the center to share intel on Loss Prevention concerns.
  • Redirect staff when behavior creates a potential Loss Prevention opportunity as well as providing feedback to store management.
  • Maintain keys to the building, including the cash drawer, jewelry cases, dressing room, etc., and ensuring proper key control is being maintained by all staff.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior Loss Prevention experience a plus.
  • Demonstrate customer engagement skills.
  • Posses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to make decisions in stressful situations.
  • Possess general operational knowledge of retail security camera equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, based on business needs.
  • Ability to stand/walk for entire shift.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Professional presentation in attire, demeanor, and appearance.
