About the Role
Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as our next School Library System Coordinator. This 12-month administrative position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and create a vision for the School Library System across nine component school districts. As the School Library System Coordinator, you will assume a leadership role in administering policies and procedures per commissioner regulations and NYS Dept. of Library Development guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
This role involves coordinating and providing professional development opportunities to school librarians and other school personnel aligned with regional needs. You will represent the School Library System as a liaison with local and statewide committees and agencies, including library systems, library resource councils, and NYS Ed Dept., as well as local, state, and national professional organizations. This includes representing the School Library System at various meetings and events, such as those hosted by SCOOLS, South Central Research Library Council, New York State Educational Media Technology Association (EMTA), and Model Schools. Additionally, you will administer and manage state and CoSer programs services and budgets reflecting members' needs. These programs include union catalog, inter-library loan, cooperative collection development, library automation, and online resources. You will also support the development and maintenance of a Media Library, including purchasing and professional development. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including school administrators, teachers, students, and community partners.

Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must hold NYS Teacher certification in School Library Media Specialist with a Master of Library Science. A minimum of three years' experience as a School Media Library Specialist is required. You must either possess or be willing to obtain NYS certification as a School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) certificate or School Building Leader (SBL) certificate within a three-year appointment period. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You should be highly organized, with excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also necessary, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely. This role requires strong collaboration and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. You must be highly motivated, with a passion for education and a commitment to excellence. You should also be adaptable, with a willingness to learn and grow in this role. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and experience in managing educational resources, with a deep understanding of the needs and challenges facing schools and communities.
