Job Summary:

Merchants Bank is seeking a skilled Mortgage Lender to join our team. As a Mortgage Lender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to potential real estate loan customers, both for in-house and real estate loans sold to the secondary market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend to the needs of potential real estate loan customers, developing rapport and obtaining necessary information.
  • Interview loan applicants to understand their needs and recommend suitable banking products and services.
  • Manage the loan pipeline, follow up, and ensure loans are processed to closing.
  • Cross-sell other banking services to customers, leveraging your knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Stay up-to-date on construction lending and monitor loan activity to recommend changes to management.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing financial institutions and complete required compliance documentation.
  • Network with local realtors and other referral sources to maintain a consistent pipeline of loan opportunities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring internal and external customers receive outstanding service.

Requirements:

  • Previous residential lending experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products and services, particularly in the area of construction lending.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
