The Park Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in engaging with community groups, orchestrating the setup and dismantling of special events, and overseeing the upkeep of park facilities and landscapes.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing park operations, which may encompass the opening and closing of facilities, procurement and inventory management, resource care, and cash handling.
  • Oversee rentals, marina activities, retail operations, and events throughout the year.
  • Coordinate the setup and takedown of special events.
  • Conduct general maintenance of facilities and grounds.
  • Support the supervision of part-time and seasonal park staff, including scheduling, training, and motivation.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Perform manual labor and routine maintenance tasks as required.
  • Utilize equipment such as hand tools, power tools, zero-turn mowers, and tractors with front-end loaders.
  • Ensure compliance with NOVA Parks safety and operational standards.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the site’s Operation and Management plan.
  • Enhance public relations by welcoming park visitors, addressing inquiries, and providing assistance, while informing patrons of rules and regulations.
  • Interpret and enforce NOVA Parks rules and regulations.
  • Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Park Manager.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions to the Park Manager.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Park Manager.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma with a minimum of one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Proven supervisory abilities.
  • Effective and courteous communication skills with staff.
  • Capacity to learn the operational aspects of the facility.
  • Familiarity with NOVA Parks business practices and cash handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment and related materials.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records.
  • Competence in using calculators and computers.
  • Flexibility to perform various duties of part-time and seasonal employees as necessary.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of NOVA Parks, including its history, organization, rules, and regulations.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Availability for additional hours during peak seasons.
  • Openness to learning and acquiring new skills.
  • Physical strength and dexterity to perform all required tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in challenging positions.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver's license, with a commitment to maintaining a safe driving record.
  • Requirement to purchase and wear a standard uniform.
