We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join our team at the YMCA Early Learning Academy at Colonial in Wichita Falls, TX. As an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality educational experience for our young students, while also supporting the Lead Teacher in the daily management and supervision of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in implementing curriculum activities and lesson plans, following the program schedule for the classroom, outdoor time, meals, snacks, and special activities.
- Use positive guidance techniques consistent with state licensing regulations, counseling children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise.
- Keep accurate and current records of each child's developmental milestones, student accidents, anecdotal notes, and attendance.
- Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, help establish a developmentally appropriate room arrangement, decor, and learning environment in the classroom, consistent with the program's philosophy and goals.
- Supervise the children, classroom, and all activities, observing, recording, and reporting any needed repairs to the building, play area, equipment, or toys throughout the facility.
- Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Accept temporary work assignments or schedules in the event regularly scheduled staff is not available.
- Must meet or exceed state licensing requirements for age, education, and experience.
- Must submit to and expect to pass a licensing fingerprint check.
- Must maintain a current CPR/AED/First Aid certificate, as well as a current Food Handlers certificate.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental or licensed childcare setting is preferred.
- Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with children, parents, and staff.
- Must maintain 30 hours of professional development each year.
