Role Summary:
Sovah Health - Martinsville is in search of a dedicated full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist. This role involves assessing patients with respiratory conditions and performing diagnostic evaluations. Collaborate with medical professionals to create and execute tailored treatment plans. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating lung function and analyzing blood samples with a blood gas analyzer.
- Administering prescribed therapies and monitoring patient responses.
- Reviewing respiratory care protocols based on patient outcomes and current best practices.
- Responding to emergency situations and providing necessary interventions.
- Educating patients and families about respiratory conditions and available community resources.
- Managing respiratory care supplies and ensuring proper inventory levels.
- Maintaining and sterilizing medical equipment, performing routine checks and calibrations.
Educational Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Care Therapy is mandatory.
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care Therapy program is required.
Essential Skills:
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including the ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays to ensure consistent patient care.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within six months of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within six months of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification is required within six months of hire.
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) or eligibility to take the RRT exam within 18 months of hire is required.
- Must hold a valid license to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Virginia.
