Assistant Plant Manager

The Assistant Plant Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our client's manufacturing facility in Mt. Holly, NC. This position is crucial for maintaining high standards in production quality, safety, and overall plant performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing all plant management functions.
- Manage and supervise plant operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Ensure a safe working environment through effective safety training and regular safety inspections.
- Direct manufacturing departments to meet product quality specifications and manufacturing metrics.
- Supervise Production Department Managers, Production Supervisors, Plant Production Schedulers, and Quality Department personnel.
- Plan and execute capital projects, ensuring they stay within budget and on schedule.
- Facilitate the implementation of process control systems and Process Improvement Teams (PITs).
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Plant Scheduler to ensure production schedules are met and production orders are properly closed out each month.
- Maintain budgeted raw material usage, reporting accuracy, and investigate usage variance trends.
- Ensure Bill of Materials (BOMs) in SAP are set up and maintained correctly for all raw materials.
- Participate in special projects and assignments as required by management.
- Motivate and coach personnel to promote good morale, housekeeping, and high productivity.
- Provide training and mentorship to shift personnel to maintain safety, product quality, and maximize productivity.
- Travel for business activities as needed, approximately 10%.
- Show willingness to relocate for promotional opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science; advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of direct manufacturing management experience, preferably in building materials or continuous process industries.
- Experience as a senior leader in a continuous manufacturing process is preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to build successful work teams and motivate personnel.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to learn new processes.
- Hands-on management style with a focus on practical problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven record of successful supervision and leadership responsibilities.
- Leadership: Ability to lead teams effectively, inspire confidence, and drive results.
- Communication: Strong ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal forms.
- Problem-Solving: Practical and hands-on approach to identifying and resolving issues.

- The role is based in Mt. Holly, NC, with some travel required (approximately 10%) for business activities.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
