KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities are representative of the tasks expected in this role. They are not listed in any order of priority. The absence of specific duties does not exclude them from this classification if they are similar or related. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.
  • Conducts cleaning activities, including emptying waste bins, washing windows, dusting surfaces, and cleaning vents and walls.
  • Performs sanitization in various areas, such as restrooms, kitchens, and dining facilities.
  • Engages in physically demanding tasks using heavy cleaning equipment, including mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors.
  • Disposes of waste by emptying containers and transporting materials to disposal sites, while also recycling where applicable.
  • Utilizes cleaning chemicals and products safely, adhering to established safety guidelines to protect all individuals on the premises.
  • Responds to emergencies to contain and resolve hazardous situations, such as spills or broken fixtures.
  • Requests necessary supplies or equipment for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Assists in moving heavy items, either manually or with the aid of equipment.
  • Prepares facilities for events by setting up or removing furniture and decorations as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with prior experience in operating standard custodial equipment and meeting the physical demands of the role; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The ability to comprehend and interpret information presented in various formats is also necessary.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position may require availability beyond standard working hours, including evenings and weekends. The ability to perform under pressure and in stressful conditions is important.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role involves significant physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds).
