Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Optician to join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club. As an Optical Professional, you will be responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products to our members, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify order data entry and compare Rx to original Rx provided from the doctor, ensuring all information entered in the system is accurate.
  • Deliver sales by providing excellent member service in person and over the phone, explaining procedures and maintaining a friendly demeanor.
  • Take measurements, select frames, read prescriptions, and notify members of product readiness.
  • Strive to deliver sales and metric goals by educating patients on product benefits and recommending suitable options.
  • Engage with members in front of Optical during downtime.
  • Adhere to all privacy and confidential policies, providing support with eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
  • Assist Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures, ensuring accurate funds collection and payments.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed to work as an optician within the State and keep license up to date and active.
  • Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
  • High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, and/or optical experience is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail required.
  • Open shift availability required for full-time positions.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Work Environment

  • Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces.
  • Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises.

Compensation

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $30.00.
