Position Overview:
The Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) under the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is in search of a qualified Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive care and treatment for individuals enrolled in the program.
Key Responsibilities:
The Psychiatrist will deliver direct, high-quality psychiatric care to adult clients within the RAP framework. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough biopsychosocial evaluations to determine clients' treatment requirements.
- Formulating and implementing treatment strategies, including prescribing psychopharmacological interventions.
- Providing clinical leadership and case consultation to psychiatric providers and clinical staff.
- Engaging in case consultations with courts, probation officers, and community providers involved with clients committed for treatment.
Work Schedule:
This position entails a standard workweek of 40 hours, from Monday to Friday, with weekends off.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a strong background in treating substance use disorders, particularly in cases involving co-occurring mental health issues. Essential qualifications include:
- A minimum of three years of residency training in psychiatry.
- At least two years of professional experience in psychiatric practice.
- Current registration as a Physician in Massachusetts and board certification in Psychiatry.
Preferred Skills:
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Expertise in conducting risk assessments for individuals with substance use disorders.
- Knowledge of community resources for implementing case disposition plans.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

The RAP is designed to provide acute detoxification and early clinical stabilization services, linking clients to outpatient support and substance use treatment providers upon discharge. The program aims to deliver quality, client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment.
