Position Overview
The Harris County Public Health Department is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to enhance our Immunization and Family Planning Service programs. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality patient care, ensuring safety, and fostering a patient-centered environment. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive nursing services while adhering to legal and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer age-appropriate immunizations and stay informed on CDC vaccine schedule updates, acting as a key resource for vaccination coordination.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to assist in physical examinations, medical procedures, and medication administration, while effectively managing emergency situations.
- Review and prioritize laboratory results, ensuring all critical values are documented and communicated to the medical team for necessary follow-up.
- Facilitate patient flow during clinic visits, ensuring a smooth discharge process and providing essential patient education.
- Offer individualized health education and counseling, with opportunities to lead group health education sessions.
- Manage medical inventory, ensuring the clinic is adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- Supervise and guide Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and unlicensed personnel, ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of one year of experience as an RN in an outpatient clinical setting.
- Active RN licensure in Texas and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
Core Competencies:
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
- Knowledge of current CDC immunization guidelines.
- Capacity to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
Work Environment:
This position operates within a professional clinic setting, utilizing standard office equipment and requiring physical capability to lift and manage medical supplies. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
