Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Training Assistant to join our team at Arizona State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the Athletic Training facilities, providing direct medical care to student-athletes, and supervising Athletic Trainer Interns and/or Athletic Training Students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes, including the prevention and treatment of athletically-related injuries.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of Athletic Trainer Interns and/or Athletic Training Students, including maintaining their hours and schedule.
  • Attend scheduled team practices and competitions, including all home events for sports as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Communicate with Team Physicians to ensure proper evaluations, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured student-athletes.
  • Coordinate closely with the Sports Dietician on hydration and nutritional recovery services.
  • Follow the NATA Code of Ethics and remain current on all state and national requirements for license renewal.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of therapeutic experience in a major educational institution or similar environment.
  • NATA certification and CPR certification required.
  • Must be a licensee in good standing with the Arizona Board of Athletic Training within 120 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of a Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years' experience working with a D1 athletics program, including one (1) year of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Experience providing prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletically-related injuries to student-athletes in Softball or other sport assignment as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Experience with advanced manual therapy techniques such as Graston, ASTYM, MFD, or ART.
  • Experience with supervision of other professionals.
