Job Summary:

A Traffic Engineer 2 at Southeastern Engineering supports the Division/Project Manager in preparing quality traffic engineering studies and construction plans for various clients. This role requires a self-motivated individual who works well in a team-oriented environment and can apply critical thinking skills to make independent engineering judgments and design decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop complex traffic signal plans and traffic simulation models for capacity analysis and level of service evaluations. Possess a firm understanding of traffic signal and ITS systems, as well as the ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances. Consistently apply Southeastern Engineering, Inc./GDOT design standards and possess proficient technical writing skills in preparing documents. Prepare/review construction plans for the installation of traffic signal and other traffic control systems that meet GDOT and local jurisdiction requirements. Prepare/review traffic engineering studies that support project requirements with state and local agencies and the private development sector. Possess GDOT PDP experience and knowledge of GDOT's PPG and EDG. Firm knowledge of local state, county ordinances, including ADA guidelines. Possess data collection knowledge (count data, crash data, field inspections, signal timing data, basic surveying techniques, etc.) and the ability to interpret and evaluate data quality. Prepare accurate cost estimates and possess excellent communication and relationship building skills. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Civil Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university. Minimum 4 years of related study and design experience. Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) in Georgia required. Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia preferred. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation, Synchro, HCS, PC Warrants, and Vissim. Firm knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe PDF. Possess a current, valid driver's license and Social Security Card or other documentation for E-Verify. EOE.
