Job Overview:
The Junior Accountant plays a crucial role in managing various accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and administrative support. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting fundamentals, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
Key Duties:
- Accounts Receivable:
- Ensure accurate data entry into the billing system.
- Generate and dispatch invoices to clients via various channels.
- Record cash receipts in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Accounts Payable:
- Reconcile packing slips with incoming invoices.
- Confirm the accuracy of quantities, unit costs, and applicable taxes.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing team to address any discrepancies.
- Oversee payables to maximize discount opportunities.
- File Management:
- Organize and maintain all files within the accounting department.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the monthly preparation of financial reports.
- Payroll Administration:
- Manage timekeeping and payroll functions; familiarity with Paylocity is advantageous.
- Reception and Administrative Assistance:
- Handle incoming calls efficiently, take messages, or direct calls as necessary.
- Welcome and guide visitors appropriately.
- Support various departments with clerical tasks and contribute to team initiatives.
- Human Resources Support:
- Execute human resource tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing context.
- Skills:
- Solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Capability to work independently and complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Paylocity for HR and payroll management.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with standard working hours.
- Occasional overtime may be necessary during peak periods, such as month-end or year-end closings.
