Core Responsibilities

  • Payroll Management:
    Process weekly payroll for employees across multiple states using UKG Ready, ensuring precision and promptness. Review and validate timesheets and wage calculations to identify and rectify discrepancies. Maintain payroll documentation in compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
  • Garnishments and Deductions:
    Accurately calculate and manage garnishments, levies, child support, and other deductions in accordance with legal stipulations. Ensure timely remittance of all deductions to the appropriate agencies.
  • Tax Compliance:
    Prepare and submit state and federal payroll tax filings, including 941, 940, and state unemployment tax returns. Stay informed about changes in tax laws to ensure compliance with all payroll tax regulations. Assist with year-end payroll processes, including reconciliations and audits.
  • Reporting and Auditing:
    Generate and analyze payroll reports for management review, covering earnings, deductions, and tax obligations. Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal controls.
  • Employee Assistance:
    Address payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing clear and supportive responses. Educate staff on payroll policies and the implications of changes in deductions and taxes.
  • Process Improvement:
    Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to identify and implement enhancements to payroll processes and systems. Participate in system upgrades and testing of new features in UKG Ready.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, particularly in multi-state environments.
  • Proficiency in UKG Ready or similar payroll software.
  • Strong knowledge of garnishment calculations and payroll tax regulations at both state and federal levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex payroll concepts clearly.
  • Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is advantageous.
