At SingleStore, Inc., we're seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Database Engine team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core database engine that powers our cloud-native database.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical decisions and provide strong technical leadership for large, release-defining projects
  • Solve complex, mission-critical problems with a lasting approach
  • Investigate difficult problems in parallel with other responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate complex technical issues and decisions to audiences both inside and outside the company
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques, coding standards, and empower engineers to achieve a higher level of performance
  • Actively participate in customer POCs to optimize customer experience and adoption
Requirements:
  • At least seven years of experience developing and debugging in system-level C/C++, particularly on Linux
  • Background in database internals or building core components for large-scale data processing systems (i.e. Hadoop, Spark) especially query execution/processing, and/or optimization
  • Experience with storage formats (i.e. Parquet, ORC, avro, iceberg), encodings, and/or indexing structures
  • Experience with cloud technologies and building cloud-native SaaS is a plus
  • Passionate about building highly reliable system software
  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a similar field
