The Department of Veteran Affairs seeks a talented Primary Care Physician to join our esteemed team at the Sorrento Valley Community Based Outreach Clinic. This role offers an unparalleled blend of clinical expertise and academic instruction, providing the opportunity to mentor approximately 120 residents and 600 medical students.
This position is part of our Patient Aligned Care Team Model, where you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including a PCP, RN, LVN, and administrator, to deliver exceptional care to a panel of approximately 1,200-1,260 patients. Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive primary care services in a team-based setting, focusing on chronic disease management and preventive health.
As a seasoned physician, you will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation for non-surgical adult patients of all ages, without life-threatening complications and with a wide variety of diseases, injuries, and disorders. You will also assess, stabilize, and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
You may collaborate with mid-level providers such as nurse practitioners and work closely with other specialties (and subspecialties) in and outside the VA system to manage or co-manage patient health. Select mental health and subspecialty services are available on-site, while others can be accessed through consult to the San Diego VA Health Care System or the community.
**Estimated Annual Salary:** $240,000 - $300,000
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 4:30pm excluding Federal Government holidays. No weekend call
We require:
- A valid U.S. Medical License
- Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Board certification in current specialty
**Preferred Qualifications:**
• Residency trained in Internal Medicine
• Doctor of Allopathic Medicine (M.D.) degree
• Academic medicine experience
• Primary Care experience
