This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the City of Spokane, WA as an Elevator Inspector. As an Elevator Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that elevators, escalators, and other conveyances in the city are safe and compliant with relevant laws and codes.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect elevators, escalators, and other conveyances to ensure compliance with state, municipal, and national laws and codes.
- Review plans for new installations of conveyances and conduct acceptance tests on all new public and private installations.
- Issue repair orders for conveyances found not to be in compliance with applicable codes and inspect conveyances after repairs and corrections have been made.
- Order unsafe conveyances to be taken out of service and repaired, and issue stop work orders when necessary.
- Investigate complaints and injuries, and may be required to testify in court as an expert witness on violations and interpretations of applicable codes and laws.
- Provide information and code interpretation to the general public, conveyance owners and operators, architects, builders, and contractors, plans examiners and building officials.
- Maintain records of all conveyances and their inspections, including those conducted by elevator companies, and prepare reports as necessary.
- Conduct annual inspections on all conveyances.
- Operate an automobile.
- License: Applicants must possess a Washington State Department of Labor and Industries Category 01 General Elevator Mechanic License.
- Valid driver's license.
