Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you will perform a wide range of maintenance and repair operations to ensure the optimal functioning of plant equipment, machinery, and tools. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing problems, planning and scheduling maintenance activities, and working in various capacities to maintain plant property and equipment.
You will work closely with the Plant Manager to minimize disruption to plant production and material handling activities. In some cases, you may need to collaborate with outside vendors or skilled journey persons for major mechanical repairs, installations, or electrical repairs.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:- Act as an Equipment Champion, responsible for the overall operational reliability of equipment, and aid in the planning of repairs and rebuilds.
- Perform diversified duties, requiring considerable care and judgment to diagnose, dismantle, repair, lubricate, reassemble, or otherwise perform general maintenance activities.
- Inspect, adjust, clean, and/or lubricate equipment as part of preventive maintenance, and train lesser-knowledgeable employees in preventive maintenance and routine equipment care practices.
- Maintain plant inventory levels for maintenance parts and supplies, and train lesser-skilled maintenance positions on proper work methods and safety procedures.
- Maintain plant equipment and maintenance records to meet safety, environmental, and quality compliance standards.
- Diagnose causes of malfunctions, determine corrective action, and seek vendor assistance when necessary.
- Use blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and equipment manuals to perform maintenance tasks, and develop and fabricate accessory fixtures or guards for machines and equipment.
- Adjust machine mechanisms, such as feed, speed, power input, or output, and work with basic computer operator skills.
- Repair portable power tools and perform other duties as required and directed.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with college-related coursework or equivalent formal technical training preferred.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems is required.
- Understanding of all equipment, processes, and procedures for operations is essential.
- Computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, and AS400, are required.
- Forklift and crane certification, as well as CPR and First Aid training, are also required.
- A general knowledge of electronics and electrical systems is preferred to perform basic repairs.
- A broad knowledge of mechanics, controls, electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related tools and equipment is required.
- Experience working with power transmission equipment, welding, and fabrication is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels, and a high level of integrity and dependability are required.
