The successful candidate will engage in research and development initiatives aimed at integrating digital technologies such as instrumentation, control systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics within the commercial nuclear power industry. This effort is crucial for transitioning from traditional labor-intensive methods to modern digital operations in nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct research and development activities focused on digital technology solutions that address modernization challenges in existing nuclear power plants.
- Lead and participate in projects, overseeing technical strategies, execution plans, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including owner-operators, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to align R&D efforts with industry needs.
- Establish new partnerships within the industry, facilitating agreements to promote the advancement and application of digital technologies.
- Present findings at scientific and professional conferences, and engage with industry partners at technical gatherings.
- Prepare detailed reports and publications to disseminate research outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property, including patents and copyrights, while supporting technology transfer initiatives.
- Provide mentorship to junior staff, post-doctoral researchers, and interns.
- Travel may be necessary to foster external collaborations and partnerships.
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 2 years; or PhD with 2 years.
- Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 6 years; or PhD with 4 years.
- Extensive knowledge of the technical and regulatory challenges associated with digital technologies in nuclear power.
- Strong professional network within the nuclear industry.
- Competitive salary range: Level 3 ($109,000 - $223,000) / Level 4 ($130,000 - $268,000).
