**Job Summary**

The Security Officer is a vital member of the Loma Linda Unv Shared Services team, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus community. As a Security Officer, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, students, and employees, providing a welcoming and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional and positive interaction with the public, students, employees, and administrators.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations, including investigations and documentation of incidents.
  • Patrol designated areas to ensure the protection of people and property.
  • Collaborate with the department's chain of command to ensure effective communication and decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the security and safety of the campus community.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a hospital or university security environment or related experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
  • Department of Consumers Affairs Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Guard Card required prior to employment start date.
  • Baton certification, chemical agents certification, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required within the first six months of employment.
  • PC 832 training to be completed within the first year of employment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to perform job duties while wearing necessary equipment and personal protective gear.
  • Able to read, write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload.
