Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical and Patient Services Assistant to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center Healthcare. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians in providing direct patient care and evaluation of patients in an office setting.
  • Perform routine diagnostic tests, administer medications, and take vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for exams, record EKGs, and maintain examination schedules.
  • Respond to patient questions, assist with dressing and undressing, and provide chaperone services as needed.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms, stock and order supplies, and sterilize medical equipment.
  • Perform medical office clerical duties, including scheduling appointments, registering patients, and processing patient charges.
  • Provide customer service to patients, respond to general inquiries, and relay information about the Medical Center.
  • Manage and update patient records, compile patient statistics, and maintain patient tracking systems.
  • Perform related office duties, including photocopying, retrieving and storing supplies, and faxing patient progress notes.
Requirements
  • High School or GED diploma required.
  • 3 years' experience as a medical assistant or successful completion of a GBMA externship program.
  • National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant may be substituted for years of experience.
  • 6 months of related clerical/administrative experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and skills in using techniques for phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, medication administration, and taking vital signs.
  • Ability to distinguish normal from abnormal diagnostic results and pass a medication calculation test with an 85% or better prior to hire.
  • Ability to perform non-complex arithmetic calculations and organize and maintain files and records.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificate of training from a nationally recognized Medical Assistant program.
  • Heart Saver (CPR) Certification.
  • National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Work Environment

This position is located in a medical office environment and requires exposure to disinfectant, detergent solutions, and human specimens.

Pay Range

$16.71 - $26.03 per hour.
