Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laborer Telecom Underground to join our team at North Sky Communications. As a Laborer Telecom Underground, you will perform all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of construction materials and equipment
  • Hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools
  • Installing and maintaining underground telecommunications cabling
  • Climbing into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
  • Operating or working around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Maintaining visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
  • Performing general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor
  • Flagging, property, or worksite restoration
  • Maintaining safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
Requirements
  • Must have a minimum Class C Regular Driver's License
  • Class A Commercial Drivers License Preferred
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
  • 6 months of experience in the utility construction industry
  • Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
Physical Requirements

The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping while on shift. Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, and a hard hat. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold temperatures, inclement weather, and adverse driving conditions.
